Midwin Charles

Midwin Charles is a litigator with extensive training and experience. Ms. Charles has managed complex litigations, arbitrations, class actions, and federal investigations. Her experience has included representation of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts clients, World Trade Center victims, criminal appeals, and civil rights class actions. Ms. Charles' substantive areas included, intellectual property, contracts, employment, securities, white-collar crime, criminal law, real estate and bankruptcy.

Ms. Charles is also a Legal Contributor for In Session (formerly Court TV) where she provides legal commentary for live trials daily on TRU TV. She also provides commentary for the Nancy Grace Show, Prime News and Showbiz Tonight on CNN Headline News, and has provided commentary for FOX Business Network, MSNBC, and various radio programs.

Active in legal, social and community affairs, Ms. Charles is a member of the Dean's Diversity Council for American University's Washington College of Law, the marketing committee of Syracuse University and the Planning Committee for Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network (WEEN). She has served as a member of the Civil Rights Committee for the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, lectured at Syracuse University and written for Huffington Post.

Ms. Charles earned her bachelor's degree from Syracuse University and her law degree from the American University, Washington College of Law, where she was an Articles Editor for the American University Law Review. Following law school, she served as a law clerk for U.S. Court of Appeals for Sixth Circuit Judge Eric L. Clay and as the A. Leon Higginbotham, Jr. Research Fellow in Social Justice at Harvard Law School, under the supervision of Charles J. Ogletree, Jr. Ms. Charles worked at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP.

Charles is admitted to the New York State Bar, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Genese N. Walker
Special Counsel

Genese joined MC&A as a Litigation Analyst in February 2009 and has been promoted to Special Counsel. Ms. Walker worked at the law firm of Ventantonio & Wildenhain PC as an associate, where she practiced in the firm's litigation department. Ms. Walker received a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland College Park and a Juris Doctorate from the American University, Washington College of Law where she served as a Junior Editor of the Business Law Brief, was a Marshall-Brennan Fellow, and member of the Moot Court Honor Society. She also worked as a summer intern at the New York State Office of the Attorney General Antitrust Bureau, and clerked for the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C. Ms. Walker is admitted to the New York and New Jersey State Bars.

Robyn Sonis
Legal Intern

Robyn joined MC&A in October 2009 as a legal intern with the firm. She graduated with honors in 2008 from Emory University School of Law and is admitted to both the New York and Massachusetts State Bars. While a student at Emory, Robyn worked as a student public defender with the school's Indigent Criminal Defense Clinic and had the opportunity to try a criminal jury case as lead attorney where she won an acquittal for her client on all charges. Robyn completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland, College Park where she was an active member of her sorority and co-captain of the university's equestrian team.
